Inner Mentor Training

 

Mentoring is something that can happen in a moment, anywhere; a moment that can nudge the Titanic just enough to move it off of its fatal course. Are you open to this happening through you?

We offer a mentor training to men, inviting them into a supportive male community  committed to a mission of integrity and authenticity which is deeply rewarding and meaningful, rich with opportunity for learning and reframing parts of their childhood that may not have worked well. A background check is required from all men who wish to staff a weekend or attend the mentor training, 

The Inner Mentor Training is a transformative workshop that will prepare you to mentor boys and young men.  It is not required for staffing a Boys to Men Raven Training or Rite of Passage Adventure weekend, but is extremely powerful and expected of men who participate as mentors in the program. This powerful workshop enables you to reconnect with a younger time in your life and to look again at the landscape that is the foundation to your adult self. By reconnecting to this younger self, you are able to recognize old wounds and an earlier perspective on life that will serve as a resource when mentoring. These old wounds bring a unique sensitivity to certain issues, providing insights which are often long forgotten but very useful when interacting with youth.  Of course, when we are acting unconsciously from these wounds, we can and will hurt a young man.  It is important for us as mentors to be conscious of our own wounds, enabling us to recognize when we are getting triggered and likely to perpetrate our wounds on a boy or young man.

Looking directly in the eyes of your own wounded boy as a man and picking up the burden that the boy has been trying to carry all these years can be life changing. Your inner mentor is able to do this.  By connecting the boy and the mentor, you, as an initiated adult man can live more consciously and begin to heal old hurtful and unproductive patterns. With the support of other men and some fundamental mentoring concepts, you can now empower yourself to safely show up in the lives of your community’s youth, as a mentor.
